Sometimes you need to step back from the world around you so that you can understand what is going on for you. Sometimes you have to fall down lower than ever before, so that you can rest and gather your thoughts. Sometimes you need to feel disconnected just so that you can wipe the slate clear & start a fresh.
If you've been feeling down lately like me then you'll know that its not easy to smile, to carry on, to show up, to be there for others and basically act like everything is ok. The world is crazier than ever right now and it's sending so many people bonkers. Personally things have been building for a while, hence no blogging for months now.
Just remember it's totally ok not to act like a superhero all the time. Don't let other peoples expectations of you force you to pretend you're fine when you're not. Having said that we are often our own worse enemy so, please stop pressuring yourself.
Stepping back for me means switching off my phone more, not watching the news, sleeping more, disconnect from ANYONE who drains me, spending less time on social media and more time in nature. It feels good to not know every inch of the latest bulletin, to connect with nature more and take the pressure of myself work wise.
If you're reading this and you've been feeling overwhelmed yourself then do something about it. Slow down, switch off, step back and take stock. No one can do it for you, we can all come up with millions of excuses why we don't have time etc but the truth is if you're feeling rundown you need to step back NOW. Make some time for you and no body else.
And know this... Things will change for the better, good days will come and the sun will shine ( Yes even in rainy Manchester ) You'll adapt to life, things will shift to help you along the way and you'll find your own sense of peace in your heart. For now learn to Rest, Recharge and Reject anything that doesn't serve a purpose in your life.
